Layla!!

Thought you'd like to hear more about Layla- our granddaughter. She lives in Florida with our son,and his wife. When he was a baby he smiled from the day he was born and quickly developed a crazy sesne of humor!
The apple didn't fall too far from the tree and Layla not only looks like her dad but she already has the funny sense of life he enjoys!
From my first visit with Layla she showed she can smile just like her dad. Only 2 weeks old, she was giggling about something!

Fast forward four months to her latest photo op set up by dad himself. I love his sense of humor in getting Layla to pose for this great picture! Makes me laugh out loud and I thought you'd enjoy it too! Thanks for the picture, Jonathan!!

I foresee years of funny pictures with Layla in them coming your way via out blog!

~ Beth PS - No babies were harmed in the making of this picture!

Up and Coming Star

Elizabeth came in to update her portfolio. She is an up and coming star to be sure. Apart from her fresh looks and adorable smile, she sings... acts.... models... and I am sure more. It will be interesting to see where she takes her talent.

♦Sadie♦

Sadie's mom brought her in to the studio last weekend to recreate a pose that had been done with her siblings before her. Beth got that shot and took a few others, ending up with quite a lot of images to choose from.
Sadie is just too adorable. I mean seriously, just look at that somber little pouty face... ~jess

Stop Underage Drinking

Not sure if underage drinking is as big of a problem everywhere else as it is in Atlanta, but I would guess it is. Enter "The Century Council" a group devoted to helping teens understand the dangers of drinking.

So... ... Tuesday took me back to a private school where our kids went - Holy Innocent's. As headlines blare about so many hard details of the world today, it was refreshing to see people from The Century Council in action. Also - at Holy Innocent's - there is a group of young women in the school dedicated to mentoring younger kids and being that example all parents hope for their children to have.

Can't help but smile when girls are fighting to be heard during this meeting about how they are talking with their parents and friends about underage drinking. Finding solutions on what to say at parties... what if the boy you like wants you to drink... how to get home if you are trapped at a party. Glad to see a room full of GIRL POWER!

Had the chance to hear the Attorney General of Georgia, Mr. Baker speak to the girls. Props to all who attended - and especially the 5 student leaders who care about helping other girls.

PS: A great article about one of the student leaders can be found through this link: http://buckhead.lps2.com/Articles-i-2008-12-12-188872.112113StandoutStudent.html

Keep talking, girls! ~ Beth

Thomas ... and the Chicken

Over the weekend I spent some time with Thomas - you remember - our 3 month old grandson. He's old enough now to sit in his Exersaucer and I had been informed of his ongoing conversations with the chicken in the middle of the tray. Thomas has definite opinions of his little friend. Alternately discussing with, pleading with, giving the Elvis sneer to - Thomas REALLY interacts with his tray-mate. There is a picture of the chicken too as I thought you would like to see what interests Thomas so. While there are other farmyard animals, they just don't get the same attention. From what I hear about our granddaughter Layla (same age but lives in Florida) she feels the pig is much more fascinating. When I get the chance I'll tell her story! How funny to think of the world through the eyes of a baby!

... from Beth's world!

♦Belly dancers, Fire and Food♦

Saturday, my friends and I celebrated our friend's birthday with dinner at Imperial Fez. I am always up for new experiences (heck, I'll try anything once), so I was looking forward to trying Moroccan food for the first time. 5 courses and 3 hours later, I was not disappointed.

I loved every course of the meal, though the 3rd course was my favorite...some sort of pastry filled with cornish-hen, roasted almonds, cinnamon and spiced egg, then covered in powdered sugar (see picture below). I absolutely detest eggs, but this was phenomenally good and it disappeared rather quickly from the table.

The belly dancers were another fun part of the evening. Those girls rock, and props to the one who danced with a flaming sword balanced on her head.

All in all, a great experience...now I'm adding Morocco to my travel list :-)

As for things here in the studio...I'm working on processing some sessions so I'll be posting them when I'm done. Happy Monday!

♦brrrrrrr.....♦

The cold weather these past two days have made me thankful I don't have to work outside all day. I'm trying to think warm thoughts (like laying on the beach basking in the hot sunshine) but it's not helping much...still cold (I would never survive living in the north). I talked to a friend in Iowa yesterday and the high temp for the day was supposed to be -4, so I can't really complain as I'm sure our 30 degree high would be like a heat wave for her :-)

Anyways, I finished Lauren and Peter's album this morning, so I'll leave you with a couple of images from that. Happy Friday!

♦Getting back to reality...♦

Last Wednesday, I woke up with a sore throat...needless to say that wasn't the best way to wake up. I've been out of the studio for what feels like forever, and it feels good to join the real world again after hibernating in my apartment for a few days. The only downside is that I have a lot to catch up on.
Anyone who knows me though, knows that I love my job. And one part of the job I hold so dear, is designing wedding albums. I love telling a couple's story through images. I feel it's an honor and privilege to take part in this piece of their history. And there's a certain satisfaction I get in knowing that I'm creating something that will last through many generations. So with that being said, here's a sneak peek of what I've been working on today. Allison and Brad were married last November, and I've had a lot of fun working on their album. I LOVE the image of Brad and Allison kissing next to the Rolls Royce! ~jess

Starting the New Year with a New Life

Jermaine and LaTanya came in Saturday to have me capture the wonder of their pregnancy. "Janaya" is due in February -Looking at her parents, you know she will be beautiful!. To see a dad positively glowing when he speaks of his unborn child always brings me to tears. How awesome that a baby is coming into the world with such love surrounding her. Jermaine was so very proud of his DAD ring - we had to make sure it got into most of the pictures. At the end of the session LaTanya and Jermaine had me take pictures of them praying for their little girl. Ok - now I am practically bawling. To see the joy of this couple as they await their little one was a gift to me as I start out 2009.

Generations of Redheads

Margot is a frequent visitor to our studio. She pops by from time to time to check on how we are doing. Very considerate for a 9 month old baby! This week she brought her mom and grandmother. Margot, it seems, is the 7th generation first born female and that deserved a great picture.

Margot's hobbies include bouncing incredibly well, chewing on all things close to her mouth and laughing with her whole self!

In our studio we have a picture of Margot when she was less than 2 weeks old. To see how she has grown is really great. Thanks, Margot - for letting us be a part of your life!

How cool is this?

Like a lot of European shoppes, we close on Wednesdays. (I think you have to add the extra "pes" to shop if you say European!) :) Being able to run errands on that day was much more fun this week as I got to spend the day with our daughter and her son Thomas.

The little things that make a grandmother happy - like being able to feed her grandbaby. I know I didn't get as excited when I fed our own kids.

You can see Thomas is styling from the picture... Why hasn't Baby Gap called to use him in their adverts??? And - can't forget this - have to give photographic credit to Jaime Adams - his mom.

An extra side benefit to the day was a trip to COSTCO. I always say they have everything and this visit was no exception. We found Dr. Suess shirts for Layla and Thomas - with Thing 1 and Thing 2 on them. How cool!! Can't wait to get Layla back up here for that picture. (Nobody tell Layla though - as she is getting hers mailed to her today!)

A happy day off - now back to work in album land - all of our 2008 brides who hadn't yet given us their list for album creation found time over the holidays. So Jess and I will be busy!!

Happy New Year to all ~ Beth

♦@ The Mansion ♦

This morning, Beth and I were at The Mansion on Peachtree photographing members of the Georgia Business Travel Association. I have to say that the Rosewood Hotel there is very nice and has the friendliest/nicest staff I've encountered in awhile. We had a lot of fun meeting everyone of GBTA...thanks for making the start of our day a good one!

Btw, we had the best flavored lemonade there. Mango and peach...yum.

I'll leave you with some images from our temporary digs this morning, and Beth working (standing on one of the nice hotel chairs...tsk tsk), and me being a goofball (as usual) whilst Beth was setting up.

♦Georgia Bridal Show♦

Whew! This weekend was a busy one. Beth and Jonathan photographed a couple of weddings on Saturday and then on Sunday we were all at the Georgia Bridal Show held at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

As usual, we had a lot of fun meeting all of the fabulous brides and grooms-to-be. We also enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful booths by the other great vendors there.

Quite a few people entered the drawing for our free photo shoot, and an email should be sent soon notifying the lucky winner :-)

Brides and Grooms, remember that if you book your wedding during the month of January, you will get 10% off the Classic and Memorable packages, or 20% off the Signature, Marquis or Masterpiece packages. And if none of those packages suit your needs, we are more than happy to put together a custom package just for you!
